SpareDesk — Ledger + Quotation Suite
Two PWAs replacing paper books for a real motor-bearings business.
01 · The problem
Paper books and Excel are not a system.
The business tracked ledgers, client dues and quotations in paper books and Excel sheets. Reconciliation was manual, quotation turnaround was slow, and there was no single view of outstanding payments across locations.
The cost of leaving it
- Ledger entries in paper books with no search or audit trail
- Quotation turnaround measured in hours, not minutes
- No single view of outstanding dues across locations
02 · The solution
Two PWAs, one design system.
Ledgr for ledger operations with role-based access and OTP-protected workspaces. Quotio for quotation building with a faithful A5 estimation-sheet preview. SMS via a real Android phone.
03 · The shift
Before was a paper book. After is a system.
Before
Paper books, Excel sheets, manual reconciliation.
After
Role-protected digital system with real-time dues and quotations in minutes.
No audit trail on who accessed what · Quotation format rebuilt from scratch every time
04 · Under the hood
React + FastAPI + Docker.
06 · In the field
Ledgr, live with real books.

Business problems solved
- The ledger room and estimation book, now in your pocket — outstanding dues visible in ageing buckets, statements sent in one tap, and quotations built in minutes instead of hours, all offline and self-hosted so the data stays theirs.
- Lost or torn paper ledgers, the daily “who owes me what” scramble, hand-written quotation turnaround, statements shared as screenshots, and a monthly SMS bill.
- Ledgers lived in paper books that got lost or torn, so nobody could answer “who owes me what?” without digging through a register. Handwritten quotations were slow to turn around, and statements were shared as awkward screenshots. There was no single view of outstanding payments across locations, and reconciliation was a manual, error-prone job.
